Brad has been a regular figure, working behind the scenes in the Sound Vault studio since we launched, and is a film production student at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham with a penchant for sound design.

Our tenth Sounds of 2017 playlist is from Paul Simpson, who is the chair of Sound Vault.

His choices include tracks from Yaeji, Julia Jacklin, Angelo De Augustine, Matt Maltese, Rex Orange County, Betsy, St. VincentCigarettes After Sex, and Declan McKenna.

Sounds of 2017: Tom Garrett

Our ninth Sounds of 2017 playlist is supplied by Tom Garrett, who as vice chair is one of the driving creative forces behind Sound Vault.

Tom’s selection includes tracks from the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor; Nick Hakim; Cherry Glazerr; and Grandaddy.

Tom is a final year film production student at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.  He is behind “An Audio Listener’s Guide to Adequate Hearing” – one of Sound Vault’s flagship podcasts to date.

Sounds of 2017: Noah Dann

Our eighth Sounds of 2017 playlist is by Sound Vault’s youngest presenter, 11 year old Noah Dann.

Noah’s choices include more than a sprinkling of Little Mix, not to mention some Rita Ora and Camilla Cabello.

It’s been a busy year for Noah, not only launching his podcast on Sound Vault, but getting featured in the local Farnham Herald newspaper, and appearing live in the studio on Peter Gordon’s breakfast show on Eagle Radio.  We’re looking forward to what 2018 has in store!

Sounds of 2017: Darren Mooney

Our seventh Sounds of 2017 playlist is from one of the founding members of the Sound Vault collective, Darren Mooney.

Darren’s choices includes tracks from Ariel Pink, LCD Soundsystem, Nabihah Iqbal, Lindstrom, Slowdive, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jane Weaver, Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile, and Mogwai.

Darren has launched his own show on Sound Vault called Breaking Lines, which he hopes to make a regular fixture in 2018.

Sounds of 2017: Cait Robinson

Our sixth Sounds of 2017 playlist is from animator and musician Cait Robinson aka Glimmer Shins.

Cait has curated a list of the musical discoveries she has made throughout the year, and this features 2017 releases from artists such as Happyness, Lucy Rose, Sufjan Stevens and Feist.

A second year student at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, Cait is one of Sound Vault’s founding members.

Sounds of 2017: Michael Chacko

Our fifth Sounds of 2017 playlist is from Michael Chacko aka ‘Chack’.  Chack did work experience with Sound Vault over the summer in 2017, and ended up making a four part podcast series charting the history of rap music, Tracks with Chack.

Chack’s choices includes tracks from the likes of Khalid, Camila Cabello, Anthony Russo, Cardi B, Belly, AJ Tracey, Ramz, and Amine.

Chack has also found time to have been a Member of the UK Youth Parliament, and when he’s not injured, he’s a keen basketball player.  He’s one of Sound Vault’s own tips to watch in 2018!

Sounds of 2017: Sam Gard

Our fourth Sounds of 2017 playlist is from Sam Gard, one half of the “Keep It Cheap” duo alongside Alex Youngs, who are working on a new podcast for Sound Vault in 2018.  Sam is a final year student at the University of Greenwich.

“These are thirty of my top picks of the year,” explains Sam, “That’s as narrow as I could manage. All the songs are picks from some fantastic albums, so all are worth a full listen.”

Sounds of 2017: DJ Alex-An

Our ‘Sounds of 2017‘ series continues with DJ Alex-An.  She is behind London’s female live music collective, Ecouter.

Sounds of 2017: Seneo Mwamba

Seneo Mwamba continues our series of playlists highlighting the ‘Sounds of 2017‘.

Having previously studied in Farnham, Seneo is now an events management student at the University of Greenwich.  In 2018, she is set to launch “Behind The Entertainment“, a new platform giving a voice to those who work behind the scenes in music and entertainment.
